The students work with the film to understand the visual language and its message. Juan Rulfo – Pedro Páramo

Pedro Páramo is the only novel by the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo. It was published in 1955 and has since been regarded as a groundbreaking work of Latin American literature, as it had a major influence on magical realism in particular.
“I came to Comala because I was told that my father lived here, a certain Pedro Páramo. My mum told me that. And I promised her I would go and see him as soon as she died. I squeezed her hands to confirm it, because she was dying and I would have promised anything. … But I didn’t think about keeping my promise. Until I was suddenly full of dreams and my illusions ran away with me.”
We used the beginning of the novel as inspiration and a starting point for the students to work their own memories into stories. The project ended with a concept for a social network and an app.
